Mario Montes Pozo was born in Mexico City and is the youngest of a large family. Mario’s family background, and his experiences of living in one of the most populated cities in the world both shape the main themes of his work: human beings, human relationships, and the spaces in which we inhabit.  In addition to Mario’s professional work, throughout his life, Mario was an auto-didactic artist. Mario’s vocation was in the plastic arts, in drawings, paintings, collages, sculptures.

Professionally, the first stage of his life was dedicated to the theater as an actor, director, and playwright, as well as a Corporate Communication Consultant. After traveling to various parts of the world, in 2014 he decided to emigrate to California where he had the opportunity to reinvent himself. He decided to study a BFA in Spatial and a minor in pictorial at SJSU. His work encompasses a wide range of media; installation, ceramic sculpture, painting, photography, engraving and intervention in public spaces. In his work you can see the influence of the performing arts and communication. His most recent works are large-format oil paintings and assemblages of found and recycled objects.
